Leading online auction house Auctionata will present “Icons of Animation & Illustration” on Friday, May 27, giving audiences the chance to purchase items from an extensive collection of vintage animation art, production cels, limited edition prints and unique drawings, with some priced as low as $100. The sale is being held in partnership with renowned vintage pop and animation art galley Choice Fine Art and will be curated by gallery president, Ari Goldman. The “Icons of Animation & Illustration” collection explores over eight years of history of the most notable studios, artists and characters of our time, including those from Disney, Warner Bros., and Hanna-Barbera. Included in this auction is a production cel and drawing of Bugs Bunny from 1982, (starting price $450), signed and inscribed “Eh-What’s Up Doc?” by the voice of Bugs Bunny, Mel Blanc. Fans will also have the chance to purchase a selection of works from Charles Schulz, celebrated for his comic strip, ‘Peanuts’. Regarded as one of the most preeminent cartoonists, Shulz’s lovable Charlie Brown and Snoopy illustrations are some of the most sought-after collectibles
In celebration of the recent release of the epic adventure film, ‘The Jungle Book’ (2016), this auction is led by an original coloured production cel from 1967 (starting price $500) that illustrates one of the earliest depictions of the animated classic.
