Paramount Pictures has released two new promotional videos for the live-action ‘Ghost in the Shell’ feature, alongside a short behind-the-scenes featurette. The first spot, titled “See Anything”, gives a loser look at the cyber enhancements that appear in the film, while the second, “Fast”, highlights the Major’s physical talents.
Co-financed and produced by Paramount and DreamWorks, the film marks one of the first titles to come from latter after having ended its distribution deal with Walt Disney Pictures.
‘Ghost in the Shell’ follows the Major (Scarlett Johansson), a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology
Fans of the original series have additional cause for excitement with news that the Japanese-language dub of the film will feature many of the same voice actors from the prior anime films. Those reprising their original roles will include Akio Otsuka as the voice of Batou (The Major’s second in command, played by Pilou Asbæk in the live-action film), Koichi Yamadera as Togusa over Chin Han’s original, and Atsuko Tanaka will voice The Major over Scarlett Johansson’s physical performance.
Directed by Rupert Sanders (‘Snow White and the Huntsman’), ‘Ghost in the Shell’ hits theaters March 31, before a roll out in Japan on April 7.
