'Injustice 2' Trailer Introduces DC's Biggest Villains

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has unveiled an all-new trailer for ‘Injustice 2’, teasing new villains, gameplay, and secret plot details ahead of the game’s release this May.

The follow-up to the hugely successful 2013 NetherRealm Studios/Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment game was first confirmed last summer alongside the introduction of Supergirl. While the following trailer introduced the playable characters Harley Quinn and Deadshot, the latest trailer showcases the tantalizing promise of a new playable villain.

Though briefly glimpsed, and largely shown in shadow, it appears the new addition to the ‘Injustice’ realm is the alien collector of worlds, Braniac.

If that weren’t enough, a post-credit scene also invites gamers to pre-order Injustice 2 to gain access to a second cosmic danger: Darkseid, the ruler of alien planet Apokolips and teased big bad of the entire DC cinematic universe.

The brooding atmosphere of the ‘Injustice 2’ trailer promises a darker continuation of the store, with an evolution of alliances, breaking of friendships and blurring of factions. As the pressure to choose sides mounts, those who once fought against a common enemy are forced against one another in battles that shake the foundations of the DC Universe.

Though much of the plot is being kept under-wraps, fans can expect high energy gameplay and even greater costumes as our heroes take on a “new threat”.

Here is the game’s synopsis:

Injustice 2 continues the epic cinematic story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk. Players can play from the biggest DC roster ever offered in a fighting game, from classic fan favorites such as Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Aquaman, to astonishing new villains like Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, and Deadshot. Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.

Injustice 2 will be available to play on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16. You can pre-order your copy right here.
