While the launch of ‘Batman V Superman’ appears to have left many fans unimpressed, lovers of the Dark Knight are winning one back with the release of the Warner Bros. teaser for ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’. After becoming an established favorite of the DC universe, and following his acclaimed role in 2014’s ‘The LEGO Movie’, LEGO Batman is now out on his own theatrical adventure complete with non-stop action, comedy, and memorable one-liners that will no doubt be adopted by the legion of fans.
Warner Bros. is currently in production on at least 4 LEGO Movie spinoffs and sequels, with the ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ to be the first release of the bunch.
No synopsis has been released as of yet, but the creative minds behind the film, as well as the all-star voice cast, suggests a most memorable experience. Will Arnett returns as the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne, with Rosario Dawson as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Michael Cera as Robin/Dick Grayson, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, and Mariah Carey as Mayor Marion Grange.
Robot Chicken writer-director Chris McKay is helming the spinoff — he served as animation co-director and supervisor on the prior LEGO flick. McKay explained the film’s setup, written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), to USA Today: “Batman is an island onto himself, the only thing he doesn’t have is relationships. We’re making About a Boy as directed by Michael Mann.”
With Batman’s good name in jeopardy from poor ‘Batman V Superman’ reviews, lets hope ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ can reignite fans trust in the cinematic treatment of their favorite caped crusader.
