FUNimation Streams First Eng Trailer For 'Steins;Gate - The Movie'

FUNimation has unveiled the first English-dubbed trailer for ‘Steins;Gate - The Movie - Load Region of Déjà Vu’, giving fans a first taste of one of the year’s most highly anticipated anime movies. The film is set for release as a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack on March 28, 2017.

‘Steins;Gate - The Movie’ reunites the stella team behind the TV series, including industry legends J. Michael Tatum and Patrick Seitz, to tell an all-new story set after the “true end” of the series.

Based on the critically acclaimed visual novel by 5pb. and Nitroplus, the ‘Steins;Gate’ anime series follows self-proclaimed mad scientist Rintaro Okabe, who, together with his friends and fellow lab-members, accidentally discovers a method of time travel through which they can send text messages to the past, altering the flow of history. Forced through the depths of scientific theory and practicality, Okabe is forced across the diverging threads of past and present, and now must shoulder the burdens that come with holding the key to the realm of time.

‘Steins;Gate – The Movie – Load Region of Déjà Vu’ first premiered in Japan in April 2013, pulling over 550 million yen (~ US$5.6 million) at the Japanese box office. Funimation acquired the rights to the film in 2014 and announced last October that the film would make its English-dub debut in 2017.

A sequel to the visual novel video game titled ‘Steins;Gate 0’ was published by PQube in North America and Europe for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in November 2016. An anime adaptation of the game has been green-lit, though no release date has currently been confirmed.

‘Steins;Gate - The Movie - Load Region of Déjà Vu’ will be released as a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack on March 28, 2017 and can be pre-ordered from the Funimation website.
